Looking for a new place to buy Korean skincare? Maybe your usual shop is out of stock, shipping is slow, or the catalog is so big you don't know where to start. Before you place an order anywhere, here are seven things worth checking, including where we're honest about our own trade-offs.
7 things to check in any K-beauty store
1. Where it ships from, and how long it really takes
Some shops ship from a warehouse in the US, others ship straight from Korea. Shipping from Korea usually takes longer, so look for a clear delivery estimate in business days and a tracking number for every order. We ship from Korea, and most orders arrive within 5 to 10 business days with tracking.
2. How the shop sources its products
A good shop tells you where its products come from. When your order arrives, check for Korean labeling and a batch code or manufacture date on the box. Be cautious with prices far below what other shops charge for the same item.
3. The total cost, including shipping
A low product price can disappear once shipping is added. Check the free-shipping minimum and the flat fee below it before you fill your cart. At Glasswell, orders of $45 or more ship free to the US, and orders under $45 have a flat $7.95 fee.
4. What happens if something goes wrong
Read the policy for damaged, leaking or lost orders before you need it. Skincare is personal care, so most shops won't take back opened products, but they should make it right when an order arrives broken or never arrives. Our FAQ spells out exactly what we do.
5. Clear product information
You should be able to see key ingredients, how to use a product and where it fits in a routine. If you have a fragrance or ingredient sensitivity, check the full ingredient list on the box or the brand's site, and ask the shop if you're unsure.
6. Help choosing, not just a giant catalog
Endless choice is part of why K-beauty feels overwhelming. A helpful shop points you to a few products for your skin type and concern. Our 5-question skin quiz does exactly that.
7. A routine you'll actually keep
The best shop is the one that helps you build a routine you'll use every day, not one that sells you 12 steps. If you'd rather start with what other shoppers love, browse our Cult Favorites.
A simpler alternative to the 10-step routine
You don't need ten steps for healthy-looking, glowing skin. Most people do well with three: a gentle cleanser, a hydrating layer and daily sunscreen in the morning. Add a moisturizer if your skin feels dry.
- Cleanse: ROUND LAB 1025 Dokdo Cleanser, a gentle foam that leaves skin feeling clean, not tight.
- Hydrate: Torriden DIVE IN Hyaluronic Acid Serum, patted into damp skin.
- Protect: Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPF50+, every morning, for every skin tone.
All three together come to just under $56, which ships free and gets our automatic 10% Routine Bundle discount for buying 3 or more products. Want more options? See our glass skin routine or K-beauty swaps for every step.
Where Glasswell fits
- Our trade-off: we ship from Korea, so delivery takes 5 to 10 business days instead of 2 or 3.
- What you get: well-known Korean brands, a short curated list instead of thousands of products, plain-English guides, and a quiz that gives you a routine in about a minute.
- Our promise: if an order arrives damaged, leaking or wrong, email us within 7 days with a photo and we'll replace or refund it, no return needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to buy K-beauty online?
Yes, when you buy from a shop that explains how it sources products, gives tracking and has a clear policy for problems. Check the packaging for Korean labeling and a batch code when it arrives.
Why does K-beauty from Korea take longer to arrive?
It travels internationally and clears customs before a US carrier delivers it. Expect about 1 to 2 weeks from shops that ship from Korea.
What's the simplest K-beauty routine?
Cleanser, a hydrating serum or toner, and sunscreen in the morning. At night, cleanse and moisturize. That's it.
